Terms & Conditions
These Terms apply when you visit www.AncestryIndiaDNA.com, create an account, order a service, activate a sample-collection kit or receive a report from Antecessor India DNA Private Limited, trading as Ancestry India DNA (“we”, “us” or “our”). The current registered-office, customer-care and grievance-contact details are displayed on our Contact and Privacy pages.
Who we are and what we provide
We operate a technology platform, customer-support service and secure report-delivery service for DNA-informed health and wellness reports. Sample processing and genetic analysis are performed by an independent third-party laboratory identified on the relevant product, consent or methodology page. We do not own or operate the laboratory. Our services do not include genealogy, family-tree building, historical-record searches, ethnicity estimates, DNA-relative matching or family-origin research.
Who may use the service
The ordinary online service is for adults aged 18 or older who can legally enter into a contract. You may submit only your own sample unless we provide a separate, approved process for a parent, guardian or legal representative. You must provide accurate account, identity, delivery and sample information.
Orders, prices and payment
Before payment, the product page will show the report modules included, price, applicable taxes, kit-dispatch estimate, report-turnaround estimate and any consultation or subscription. Your order is accepted when we send confirmation. We may correct an obvious pricing or catalogue error before fulfilment and will offer cancellation if the correction materially changes your order.
Sample collection and laboratory processing
The physical kit is used only to collect and transport a saliva sample. Follow the collection, labelling, packaging and dispatch instructions carefully. The independent laboratory may reject a sample that is insufficient, contaminated, damaged, mismatched, improperly labelled or otherwise unsuitable. The laboratory identity, accreditation and testing scope will be stated only where verified and permitted.
What the report means – and what it does not mean
A report summarizes selected genetic variants and research associations within the limits of the panel, laboratory method, available evidence and data quality. A report is informational. It is not a diagnosis, prognosis, treatment recommendation or guarantee that a condition will or will not occur. Health is also affected by age, family history, environment, lifestyle, medications and clinical findings. A qualified healthcare professional may recommend confirmation through an appropriate clinical test.
Medication, reproductive information and professional guidance
Do not start, stop, switch or change the dose of any medicine based only on a report. Pharmacogenomic information should be interpreted by a qualified prescribing clinician or pharmacist. Carrier-status or reproductive information should be reviewed with a qualified clinician or genetic counsellor and should not be the sole basis for reproductive decisions. Any consultation included with a product is subject to the professional’s qualifications, permitted scope and availability. It is not emergency care.
Consent, privacy and use of information
Before kit activation, we will present the privacy notice and the consent choices needed for the core service, laboratory transfer and sample handling. Optional research, service-improvement or marketing choices must be separate and are not required to receive the core service. You do not transfer ownership of your DNA or personal information to us. We do not sell or rent identifiable genetic information. Our Privacy Policy explains the information collected, purposes, service providers, retention, safeguards and request process. Publish this commitment only after contracts, systems and operations have been verified.
Sample handling, quality checks and recollection
The independent laboratory handles biological samples under its validated procedures, applicable law and the written service arrangement. The sample-retention or destruction rule will be shown before submission and must match the Privacy Policy and consent record. If quality control fails, we may offer a recollection kit under the published Refunds, Cancellations and Failed-Test Policy.
Delivery and report timelines
Kit-dispatch and report-turnaround times are estimates measured from the event stated on the product page, such as dispatch or receipt of a valid sample. Delays may occur because of courier issues, recollection, quality review, laboratory capacity, technical interruptions or events beyond reasonable control. We will provide an updated estimate when a material delay becomes known.
Cancellations, refunds and subscriptions
Cancellation, return, defective-kit, recollection, failed-processing and refund rules are set out in the Refunds, Cancellations and Failed-Test Policy displayed before purchase. If a subscription is offered, the price, duration, renewal method, renewal date and cancellation method will be clearly shown before payment. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer law.
Your responsibilities
Keep your account and report access secure. Use the service only for lawful personal purposes. Do not submit another person’s sample without verified authority. Do not upload raw genetic data, DNA reports, Aadhaar numbers or detailed medical records through a general contact form. Do not use a report to discriminate, harass, threaten or make an unlawful employment, insurance or legal decision.
Website content, personal report use and service availability
Website text, graphics, software and reports created by or lawfully licensed to us are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. You may use your purchased report for your personal purposes. You may not copy, scrape, resell, reverse engineer or commercially exploit the website or software except where law permits or we give written permission. We use reasonable care to provide the service, but genetic science, laboratory processing and internet systems have limitations. We are not responsible for loss caused by inaccurate information you provide, failure to follow collection instructions, or use of a report contrary to its stated limitations. Nothing excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Complaints, governing law and updates
Send service complaints to customer care and privacy complaints to the Grievance Officer listed on our Contact and Privacy pages. We will record and address complaints under the published grievance process. These Terms are governed by Indian law. Courts, tribunals and consumer forums with lawful jurisdiction retain jurisdiction. We may update these Terms prospectively and will change the effective date and provide appropriate notice for material changes.
